Lee Robinson

  • Physiowise is run by Chartered and State Registered Physiotherapist, Lee Robinson
  • Lee has worked in part time private practice since 1993 and full time private practice since 1998
  • Having qualified from Pinderfields College of Physiotherapy, Wakefield in 1987, he worked in the NHS for eleven years before concentrating on private practice
  • During this 30+ year period, he has been involved in professional sport at local, national and international level
  • In that time his passion has been treatment of rugby league injuries
  • He gained initial professional experience with Wakefield Trinity as well as time with junior Yorkshire and England teams leading to experience in Australian and French rugby league. This was followed by time at Dewsbury Rams and Featherstone Rovers and more recently with Huddersfield Giants and Hull FC in Super League
  • His time abroad keeps him in regular contact with top Sydney based sports physicians and physiotherapists, keeping him up to date with the current concepts of sports medicine
  • As well as rugby league, his recent experience has also seen him work with local, county and international athletes, hockey players, netball players, gymnasts, swimmers and dancers, aswell as local soccer, cricket and golf players
  • Lee’s early physiotherapy experiences also saw him work with Reading FC, Doncaster Ladies Hockey team, England Disabled Amputee Football in team, The World Student Games in 1991 and Sandal RUFC
  • With this experience, Lee believes the same principles used in high profile athletes should also be applied to all individuals who suffer from musculo-skeletal injury or pain
  • Since establishing the Physiowise practice, Lee has been able to use his highly specialised skills to treat not only individual professional sportsmen and women but also to offer this unique service to all patients
  • Away from the sports injuries scene, Lee worked in occupational health for over twenty years, running his own manual handling training service company
  • In more recent years Lee has been active in the medico-legal world providing physiotherapy treatment for injured clients, specifically ‘whiplash associated disorders’ from road traffic accidents
  • Some great historian once wrote ‘Behind every good man is a good woman’; and that good woman is Ann Cleasby who works as the Practice Manager and is the first point of contact at the clinic for all things physiotherapy
  • We also have a sports masseur, Rob Stephenson whose skills in the rugby league and sports world have benefited the clinic greatly
  • Away from the physiotherapy side of life, family-man Lee also works as club historian to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, works with the Wildcats on their Players Association and Community Trust board and is secretary to the Wakefield & District Amateur Rugby League Association
